KE3HT/r June VHF Contest. Bummer!
A few of us had a test day on Friday before the contest. Everything
checked out except N1FGY's 2304. At my very first site I turned on the power
to the rack and turned the knob to select the first band. Ooops! no clicking!
No take over noise, no nothing! I had 9 bands (50mhz thru 5gig) and
now I only had 4 bands (50-432)! I worked on the bad power suppply for awhile
then gave up and attempted a couple of work arounds (12 volts for 24v relays...).
I did get 1.2gig and 5 gig to work but in the process I had to bend some
141 hard line and a connector came off of the 5gig. No spares! I also do
not own a sma to sma barrel! This means I now have 5 bands though. To top
things off the relay on the 222mhz transverter died. (back to 4 bands). Now
down to Later I also broke the mike to my dual band FM (146/440) radio. Now
I only had 50/144/432mhz. Not worth the drive. I gave up.
I WILL Do a 5gig contact at 289 miles or bust! Here are
some pictures of my adventure. Also some pictures of other rovers I bumped
into.
