Jon's Journal
Updated 05/04/2009
Jon (my son) and I are going to publish our logs this year. I invite
you to make
yours public as well. Anyone looking for fishing info on the web is
probably pretty into fishing. Most people into fishing are catch and
release. SO what have we got to loose? We can help each other enjoy
Berkshire county fishing that much more.
March 28th 2009: Woods Pond was the first lake to ice out and it still
had a little ice here and there. Woods pond is a catch and release lake
along the Housatonic River near Lenox Dale, Berkshire county. Water
temp as you would expect is still around 40 degrees. Jon went out with
his friend Mark, I had to work. They caught two fish. One was a Coy (I
think) and the other was a bass. Not bad for a 55 degree sunny day with
water temps of 40. This lake has some Bass but I don't seem to
find them as well as the Crappie which are normally in great
abbundance. The water in the shallow flats should have warmed up first.
I thought it would attract some fish. Pike was the target but they did
not find any.
1.5 lb LM Bass caught on a huge musky BUCK 3 or 4 inches long! That
bass must have been hungry. Interesting to see a 5.5lb Coy caught by
accident. BOTH fish returned to the water.

04/18/09 Jon and I (Jon is my son) went to Woods pond for the day. We
saw a Pike that seemed to enjoy following our lures but would not
hookup. We worked the river edge next to the flats between thw pond and
the river with no luck except that follow. The main lake had no success
either anywhere. Where did the fish go?
05/01/09 Jon went fishing with a friend at night looking for carp but
found none.
