Berkshire County Fishing Holes

I created this site in 2005 because there seems to be a lack of books and maps to document where I can have fun fishing. There are some obvious lakes in this county but you are not going to enjoy the experiance. I do not like to fish on a lake where water skiing is the principal use of the lake. I also made this list because some lakes like Ashmere Lake are listed as hot bass lakes but nobody knows how to get a boat on it! In the SAME town there are two lakes, Ashmere and Plunket. One is listed in the public access board's site the other in the dept of fisheries. Now, hows that for cooridination!

I live for what I call a POND to fish on. Lakes are places that are large and dangerous. Ponds generally do not allow speed boats or skiers. I will classify some lakes that have limited danger. Cheshire lake for instance is really 3 lakes with the smaller two being to shallow for big power boats.

There are a few ponds listed here that are Not in Berkshire county but are worth the trip and they are closer to my home in Dalton, MA than some of the southern Berkshire lakes.

This list is of Ponds and some lakes I can fish from the shore or fish from a canoe or small 12 foot dingy type boat. I prefer little or no high speed power boat traffic. Peaceful is nice. Enjoyable is MY rating based on the looks/crowds/size/fish/boats etc. Some of these lakes have not been visited yet and are not rated.

4/4/09 Cheshire Middle and bottom = 50 degrees! Just about ready for pike!
4/5/09 Laurel lake = 45 Degrees. nothing from shore.
4/10/09 Pontusic 47degrees. Nothing, skunked
4/19/09 woods 48 degrees. Nothing caught but we had some follows by pike.
5/01/09 Jon did a night fish and did not find the fish hopping! Were are they this year?
