Completed:
- Refurbed radio case
- Removed all wasted wire.
- Tested receiver.
- Tested Exciter.
- Converted duplexers to ham bands (Assisted by Fran KB1HZL)
- Tested circulator.
Some notes on the radio refurb:
- PA is DEAD. was old PA from greylock. I will convert to driver
power only (20 Watts).
- Receive line was to short and in poor shape.
- Hielacle filter section IS NATIVE ON the HAM
BANDS!
- Oscillator is native for the ham bands!
- Receive sensitivity was only around -120dbm
(approx), should have been -135dbm or better.
- A GE repeater Controller board was found to be
controlling the Radio.
- Crystals
were from an unknown manufacturer, Mounted in NON-TEMPERATURE
Compensated 5C
Icom's. Solder job was a good one though. I will store these as Spares.
They
were pro-made I suspect.
- There was NO PL
deck in this repeater? ($75 to do
this right)
- Exciter was on freq and on the ham band! 300mw
out.
- There IS a RAB (Repeater Audio Board) so it will
be easy to remove any user introduced PL tone.
- Found a 120volt AC Fan on the inside cover of
the PA!?

Notes on temporary installation: Install
OLD status details for the Dalton site:
- NO Controller
$300-600
- NO Dummy load for circulator.
Using small one loan from KE3HT.
- NO Site. (Perhaps
co-locate with 443.85 on North Street? share its controller).
- NO Power supply.
(temp loan from KE3HT)
- NO antenna
(temp loan from KJ1K)
- YES Duplexer
obtained 12/03/05 DB Products 4048
- old home made duplexer from BCC has been obtained as well in
poor share.
- YES Isolator/circulator.
Obtained 12/19/05 Telewave T-2200 150watt version. (questionable)
- YES have
crystals.
- YES have
old 146.91 radio (tough shape, but it is a REAL HAM based Mastr II) It
is the 91 radio
purchased by the club years ago.
Initial Plan (co-location):
- Antenna: For 443.85 site I borrowed dual band antenna from Sigurd
if we co-locate. (My 440 antenna is on Greylock)
- looking for a real good site like Peru Mt. of Bosque etc,
IDEAS? Connections? tell me!
- Steve Bird Winsor N1LYE (phone number in my phone book). NO to
Brodie per site manager.
- Controller, we could share the 443.85 is we co-locate with it.
Progress:
- 11/09/05 to contain costs I canceled the crystal order (see
146.91 for why)
- 11/13/05 Sigurd obtained a Diamond X300A 10foot dual band
antenna. 6.5dbi on 2M and 9dbi on 440. It is a LOANER and should be
returned when we find a permanent site for 03. (we can use the 20
footer W1BS has then).
- 12/03/05 purchased DB products 4048 duplexer. 6cans!
- 12/19/05 purchase Telewave Circulator 150 watt version!
- 02/06/06 Purchased crystals from ICM. Delivery 2-3 weeks. Initial
use will be to test out the 146.91 at full power.
- 03/16/06 received the connectors for the double sheilded cables.
- 4/12/06 Obtained old 146.91 radio from Greylock upgrade.
- 4/14/06 obtained very old home made duplexer from KA1SUN. A few
cavities are in good shape, one will never work again and two others
might work if rebuilt.
- 06/18/07 dusted off and prepared to work on it. SEE NOTES
