146.91
History
as seen by KE3HT
- March 18th 2005 KE3HT Purchased
a Scom 7k Controller for 91 but it was never used by the club.
- October 19th 2005 a GE MASTR II
BASE radio was donated to NoBarc by a member of the W2SZ group.
- Nov 6, 2005 NoBarc President
N1LZH gave KE3HT $50 of her own money to buy crystals to make a new 91
with a recently
donated 147.03 radio and started NoBarc's attempt to replace the near
dead 91 controller..
- 11/13/2005 update: Pat(N1LZH), Joe(W1BS)
and I (Tim, KE3HT) went up to Greylock to get some news on what 91 was
doing. We discovered that nothing much has changed. The courtesy tone
has
changed but nothing much is working any better. Power =
37out, 18reflected which makes a 5.6:1 SWR,
That is BAD news. It means something is wrong with either
the feed line or the antenna itself. CTL rcvr and control
controller seems to be working but is NOT connected to 91. The GE
controller is still in parallel with the origional old controller.
Pictures from our trip can be found here.
- 11/20/05 Kurt went up to 91 and emptied water out of the antenna
to
improve the SWR.
- 11/27/05 KE3HT elected to 91 repeater manager. I don't have a
tenth of the qualifications of Kurt much less any experiance. I
have done a couple of UHF repeaters for 9600 baud packet but that is my
limit in actual repeater experiance. I do have help from the
147.06 repeater builders in Wellsboro (WB3GPY) and 147.06 repeater
builder in Rotterdam (N2YCA). Of course many of you know Dick
(WA2AAU) who is very handy with radios. I myself have been into
computers professionally so repeater controllers are not that strange
to me. Between us I hope to be able to keep the repeater going and
maybe get it back up to snuff. We still need everyones help this spring
to have an antenna party. Most of the antennas or antenna tubes need
repair.
- 3/29/06 The new repeater was ready for on the air!
- April 12th 2006 5pm EST The new 146.91 is on Greylock and is up
and running.
- June 18th we had a tower party and took down many of the antennas.
- July we had a work party to repair antennas and discovered the
146.91 antenna is broken and since it is bees wax it is not repairable.
- July 15th I discovered the power supply has gone bad. It can not
support transmitting more than 20watts. We need a new repeater!
